Glossy Type’s Year in Review

Can you believe this year is coming to a close? January seems like it was both yesterday and 10,000 years ago. So much has changed for me and Glossy Type this year. So, I thought I’d give y’all a little update about what we’ve been up to and where we’re headed.

A New Endeavor: Music Marketing

The biggest news is that Glossy Type will continue to move into the music industry in 2025. In the last year, I have been working on growing my freelance music production business. Don’t worry: Glossy Type still offers content marketing for beauty businesses. But I have long dreamed of a music career and have slowly but surely been taking steps in that direction.

However, this doesn’t spell the end of Glossy Type. Far from it! Beginning in 2025, Glossy Type will be moving into the music marketing and artist development space. We are pleased to announce our Eras package, which will help independent artists launch a cohesive aesthetic marketing strategy with their music. We are currently searching for artists to participate in a case study. So if you know any, send them our way!

To add more value to this service, I am collaborating with Lindsey Pehrson, a social media and branding expert, Carolyn Martin, an LA-based wardrobe stylist, and Kelsey Miksch, a hairstylist. Together, we will be helping artists to define and launch their era with new music releases.

Thank You to Our Clients This Year!

This year I continued my work with Toppik and Viviscal. I also added a new client to the mix, WG Content. WG Content is a content marketing agency specializing in health and healthcare. I suppose you could say that I am sub-contracting for them! Although I love writing about beauty, it’s been a nice change of pace to write about different topics.

I also have some exciting projects in the works for a skincare start-up and a tech giant, though I can’t say more because I signed an NDA!

A Few of My Favorite Things

Finally, as a beauty expert, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention a few of my favorite beauty products this year. Here they are in no particular order:

This has become the most popular video on my dating profile.

Irresistible Me Hair Extensions

Irresistible Me was kind enough to send me a set of their clip-in hair extensions. I ordered 24-inch extensions in Auburn, and I LOVE them! They were perfect for a Love Island-themed improv show that I performed in. The color match is excellent (which is rare for redheads) and I’m very happy with the quality. I got so many compliments on them! I plan to have them trimmed soon so they blend a bit better with my natural hair, but I’m definitely excited to try them out again. The brand is currently running a 50% off promotion until December 25th, which means their hair extensions are extremely affordable.

Tanologist Self Tan Drops in Medium

I love a sun-kissed look, but I don’t tan very well. And I don’t spend much time outside. And tanning is bad for you. Hence, why I love these tanning drops. You can just add a few to your favorite moisturizer, and a nice little tan develops. I find traditional self-tanners to be, frankly, rather terrifying. I had one too many stripe-y incidents in middle school and developed a phobia. But tanning drops are nice because you just add a little pigment at a time, which means you’re unlikely to end up with blotches and stripes. Get it on Amazon.

Kenra Perfect Blowout

Finally: a product that lives up to its name! This styling cream really does create the perfect blowout on my 2A hair. I apply it to my hair when it’s damp and then dry with my Conair Drying Brush (which I’m not proud of, but Dyson never sent me the hair dryer they promised me!). Get it on Amazon.

Batiste Dry Shampoo

An oldie but goodie! I order this by the case from Amazon and use it between washes. It’s great. I still haven’t found a better dry shampoo. Get it on Amazon.

Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch Sunscreen Lotion

In my opinion, this is the only sunscreen that has an acceptable texture. I find most sunscreens to be greasy and sticky in a way that makes me want to never go outside again. But this one is nice and it has sparkles in it. Get it on Amazon.
